Madeley 4ths v Newport 3rds (1)

The Fourths travelled to Newport on which very few fixtures had been played due to the weather this weekend. Newport played four of their second team players (Which they are allowed to do in the League Rules).

This didn't dispirit the lads as they were put in to bat. Admitedly wickets fell quickly, and it was only Liam Kearsley (19) and Richard Smith (26) who showed any chance of scoring a slightly reasonable score, and Madeley finished on 93 all out.

The Madeley bowlers started exceptionally well taking Five quick wickets, and really put Newport under the cosh. Only James Round (12) and James Smith (11 n.o.) showed any resistance. But with only two balls to go Newport at Nine wickets down, hit the winning runs (94-9).

Once again though, Madeley's Extras were a nightmare, Totalling 37 of which 18 were Byes and 16 were wides. If The Fourths can sort out this problem they may get back on the winning trail again.
